Think before You Abandon
Fashion Show Luncheon
November Meeting
THANK YOU

El Refugio has suffered another loss.
Calvin, Elvira and Edwina have disappeared from the desert feeding station.
Alvin is the only pup left and he is running close to
his mom. We think coyotes. How very sad. They were so
payful and enjoying their lives - all looking
healthy and sleek, and becoming friendlier.
El Refugio survivors need your help.
Although the El Refugio clan is more tolerant
of women and very suspicious of men and children due to the abuse they've suffered, all interested volunteers are welcome to pitch in.
Gwen says, "El Refugio needs help to carry food and get the pups used to
other people, not just myself."
"They are a delight,
lying in the grass, taking the sun when their bellies
are full. They dance around in anticipation while the
food is being mixed, and always hunt through the
food for the goodies first, just like little kids
looking for the prize in a box of cereal!"
For more information about El Refugio and how you can help, Email Santuario; OR call Gwen in San Carlos at 226-1460 or (Vonage - US#) 520-225-0212
Santuario has a new arrival, a small calico kitten we call Tita. She was abandoned in a box the morning Gwen left on an extended trip, and is lucky to be alive.
Leaving animals on anyone's doorstep is unsafe; we have dogs on the street that will kill them. The last kitten abandoned at the Santuario was killed by neighborhood dogs. Kittens cannot protect themselves, and if Gwen isn't available at the Santuario, they have no food source nor are they safe from the elements or from marauding dogs.
It is a sad situation, people are so thoughtless they do not consider the welfare of the animal they are abandoning. They don't think and instead of saving an animal they commit it to a terrible death.

I would like to thank Jacqui Percious, Debbie Wild, Sandy Fahrenwald, Eileen Pasker, Shari Olsen and Jan Rains for their hard work in putting the show together. I also thank the hostesses for the creative and beautiful tables. Each year you amaze us with your fun and imaginative settings. We hope to see you all back next year.
Terry Perez and her staff at SAGITARIO'S did an excellent job with the fashion show portion of the afternoon. Her sense of style, fun and professionalism really came through, not to mention the wonderful apparel she chose for her models. SAGITARIO'S has been a long-time supporter of the SBPA and we thank them.
The TWINS volunteered their time to provide the live music for the show. What a treat for us. They really know how to jazz things up. I saw people dancing between the tables. You just can't help it when this group plays! Thank you guys.
How can we thank you enough? Your donations have made it possible for a lot of puppies and kitties to be spayed/neutered. San Carlos, please support these people and businesses that support the S.B.P.A.
And of course we owe a great deal of thanks to THE PARADISO HOTEL. Israel, Jaimina and their staff were fantastic. They were there every step of the way helping with anything we needed. They actually built a "runway" out into the middle of the room for our models. Thanks to chef Manuel's expert preparation of Graciela Dudley's personal recipes. The food was excellent! THE PARADISO HOTEL has a long history of support for the feral animal population in San Carlos and we look forward to a long and prosperous relationship with them.
A very special thank you to all the volunteers who care enough to give their time and energy to help the dogs and cats have a better life. Thank you San Carlos.

The Fashion Show Luncheon (previously scheduled for January 23) has now been changed to Wednesday,
January 30, 2008 at the Hotel Paradiso.
Please email SBPA AC for further information about this fun, and
worthwhile event that supports the SBPA FREE Spay/Neuter Clinic.
To all of our new volunteers, SBPA A.C. says, "WELCOME ABOARD!" The first volunteer meeting will be Wednesday, November 7th, 10:30 AM at Bananas Restaurant in San Carlos.
The SBPA A.C. would like to thank the following people of San Carlos for their generous donations of pet food, supplies and toys.
