Bliss tells an entertaining account of being adopted by a feral family back in December, watching it grow, and then, with the help of Karyn from SBPA, practicing TNR - Trap, Neuter, and Release.

Mobile Clinic back in La Manga

The mobile spay/neuter clinic was on the road, again, on Saturday. Dr. Kiesel and his two assistants from the Camino Seco Pet Clinic in Tucson, AZ, plus a handful of local volunteers teamed up for a successful day of surgery.

Lisa, a La Manga resident, generously offered her own facilities for use as an operating theater. Lisa's dog is recovering comfortable at home - actually, two days after surgery, Lisa's dog was bounding around the neighborhood, apparently feeling no ill effects whatsoever.

Dr. Geiger Works Himself Sick

On Sunday Dr. Garrel Geiger of Sierra Vista, AZ held a spay/neuter clinic for ten abandoned kittens and cats that had been dumped on Santuario's doorstep. They were also tested for feline leukemia and vaccinated. These healthy cats are ready for that special someone to take them home (photos coming soon...).

He also performed a well-puppy check and vaccinated two of the youngsters who were abandoned at Easter (see story below). The pups are healthy, playful and will be looking for homes (their photos will also be here, soon).

Dr. Geiger also performed check-ups on some of the dogs that are available for adoption, but Sunday's clinic had to be curtailed due to illness...his own. The attending assistants offered to treat him at the spay/neuter clinic, but he graciously declined.

We greatly appreciate Dr. Geiger's efforts and hope for his swift recovery from the flu. We also appreciate the volunteers who assisted: Courtney Buys (a great addition to our program), who also assisted at the La Manga Clinic; Karyn Furry (a fireball of effort, also fairly new to us), who helped with the set ups and corralling the patients; Gwen Bouschor (old reliable), who provided the location, performed her always famous fetch and carry routine, and provided the critical recovery and after-care.

At this time, all animals are on the road to recovery and a better future. More unwanted litters have been prevented - neuter/spay is the humane solution. If you don't care, who will?

Our success is due to the graciousness and dedication of the vets who DO care...who serve our clinic by donating their time, skill and expertise. They're working to make our community a better place for animals and humans.

ANGELINA Found a Good Home

Angelina, a 7-month-old spayed female weighing in at 30 pounds, has been adopted by a great family in the US, thanks to the efforts of Santuario and Phyl Abrams. They did it, again; what a team!

HELP Required with Nursing Puppies

During Easter week, irresponsible people dumped small puppies...puppies way too young to be away from their mothers...at various places around San Carlos. One little guy was even tied up in a plastic bag and dropped into a garbage can.

The SBPA SAFE Program director and assistants are trying to cover the squares, keeping up with the rigorous feeding schedule required by nursing pups, but we need people to help foster these tiny puppies. Abandoned Family of Pups Found

Marina Real puppies

These five puppies were found in a dirt bank, abandoned along with their mom and dad. The family of six was well-behaved, friendly and social. The parents were sterilized and all dogs vaccinated and de-wormed... thanks to the SBPA SAFE Program for help with traps, vaccinnes, worming meds, and collars. Until homes were found, these pups were cared for by some big-hearted folks at Marina Real Condos, who also had a knack with a camera.

The Marina Real story has a happy-tails ending. All puppies found homes, thanks to the efforts of Marina Real Condo residents; and thanks to Steve and Linda Pringle, the puppy parents are also happily situated.
